Voters in Tashigang encouraged you to reconsider your choice and take part in the election

In an attempt to guarantee 100% participation in the June 1 Lok Sabha and Assembly by-election in the tribal districts of Lahaul and Spiti, the Kaza administration met today in Tashigang village with irate voters in an attempt to calm them down.

The people of Tashigang village had threatened to abstain from the Lahaul and Spiti polls two days before. They are upset because the Public Works Department officials terminated the employment of thirteen daily wage laborers in this town. After several years of employment in the PWD, these daily wage workers were now yearning for their positions to become regular.

In an attempt to encourage the irate voters to actively participate in the June 1 Lok Sabha and Assembly by-election, the Assistant Returning Officer at Kaza Harsh Negi arrived at Tashigang today, the highest voting place in the globe.

He spoke with the voters in the area and heard their requests. He urged people to cast ballots in the upcoming by-elections for the Assembly and Lok Sabha. He has received assurances from the locals that they would take the administration’s advise into account. The conference was attended by all 13 of the daily wage workers who were employed as temporary employees of Tashigang village’s Public Works Department, together with their families.

According to Assistant Election Officer Harsh Negi, a meeting was conducted with both daily wage workers and local residents who were employed by the PWD. They pledged to take the administration’s request into account.

“Tashigang’s 100% vote record is well-known worldwide. According to this custom, the villagers will once again make history by guaranteeing 100% of the vote in order to support democracy,” he said.

Standing at 15,256 feet above sea level, Tashigang is the world’s highest voting place. Tashigang is a cold desert town that is located in the Spiti Valley in Lahaul and Spiti region. It receives six months of snowfall every year. Oxygen is in low supply.

Prior to 2019, Hikkim, which is situated in the Lahaul Spiti area, was the highest voting place in the world. However, Tashigang became a voting place in 2019. In Tashigang, there were forty-five voters for the Lok Sabha in 2019. There were 18 female and 27 male voters out of them. There were 48 voters in the Mandi parliamentary seat by-election in 2021. There were fifty-two voters in the 2022 Assembly elections—thirty males and twenty women. There are 52 voters this time as well.
