Wife and husband argue during the Tekkali portion

It’s an intriguing thing that YSRC candidate Duvvada Srinivas for the Tekkali Assembly seat would have to face off against his spouse during the election.

On April 22, his wife Duvvada Vani is getting ready to submit her candidacy papers as a rebel candidate.

Since the TDP’s founding in 1983, the Srikakulam district’s Tekkali Assembly seat has served as its stronghold. Eight times, the TDP has won the seat. This also covers the 1994 win in the sector by the late former chief minister, NT Rama Rao.

Kinjarapu Atchannaidu, the current MLA and president of the TDP State, is once again running for the party’s nomination. In 2014, he emerged victorious from this Assembly phase and is now attempting to achieve a hat-trick.

In an effort to drive the TDP out of the seat, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy declared Duvvada Srinivas the official candidate of the party.

Srinivas ran on the YSRC ticket and lost both the 2014 election for the Tekkali Assembly seat and the 2019 election for the Srikakulam Lok Sabha constituency.

Because of his loyalty to Jagan, Jagan nominated him to the Legislative Council.

Following the announcement of Srinivas as the party’s candidate for Tekkali by the YSRC president, a marital dispute has surfaced between him and his spouse Vani. Both established their own camp offices and have been running their campaigns independently in an attempt to capture the seat.

Along with her husband Srinivas, Vani was the victor of the Tekkali ZPTC election and was influential in politics at the constituency level.

But over the last several months, the pair has had disagreements. She also filed a complaint against her husband’s behavior in both politics and family matters with the YSRC’s senior leadership as part of this.

The party granted her request and designated her as the section head for the Tekkali Assembly. She assumed she would be the party’s face when her husband Srinivas was nominated by the party.

Vani was shocked by the choice and said nothing for the next three days. On Thursday, however, she revealed herself to her supporters and said that she would continue to run as a dissident candidate. She is committed to submitting her candidacy on April 22 for the Tekkali section.

She had given her supporters the impression that she was certain the party would grant her the B-form. Now, Vani raised the political ante in the segment by declaring that she would be running as the party’s dissident candidate.

In a few days, Congressman Killi Kruparani, TDP’s Atchannaidu, and YSRC’s Duvvada Srinivas will submit their nominations. The Tekkali Assembly phase will include a four-corner competition if Vani follows through on her plan.
