Workers from Border Roads in Arunachal Pradesh help visitors who are stuck because of the snow

In the Tawang area of Arunachal Pradesh, strong snowfall left around 70 persons stuck. Both residents and tourists were saved by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO) in a successful rescue effort.

In the midst of deteriorating weather, cars had been delayed at Sela Pass since Thursday night when the operation took place.

On Thursday, the snowfall started to impact the upper areas of Tawang District, causing major traffic jams and road closures.

When many cars were stuck at the Sela Pass, trapping their occupants in very cold temperatures that dropped to -10 degrees Celsius, the situation became more dire.

Project Vartak of the BRO quickly mobilized its staff and resources to carry out the rescue in response to the emergency. The group put out great effort during the very cold night to make sure that everyone who was trapped was transported to safety by Friday am.

Lieutenant Colonel Mahendra Rawat emphasized that their teams are stationed at Sela Pass and on other important highways in the area around-the-clock.
