A star striker is eyed by Mikel Arteta to sign when the January transfer window opens

Arsenal will probably make several bids to recruit a top striker this season during the January transfer window. Although Mikel Arteta’s club has performed well in the current Premier League season, they may benefit from having a precise striker on the team. The Gunners’ form has lately declined as seen by their concession of defeats to Fulham and West Ham in their past games. But now that the transfer window for January has officially opened, Arteta may finally do some business. The London-based team has been extensively connected to Premier League attacker Ivan Toney, while the Spanish coach is apparently considering Nigerian forward Victor Bonafice.

After acquiring Gabriel Jesus in 2022, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in a much stronger position. With Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Martin Odegaard, Jesus has forged an excellent relationship and has been a standout player at the club. Jesus hasn’t been a serious contender for the Premier League top scorer title like Erling Haaland, Hueng-min Son, or Mo Salah, despite his recent strong play. Due to this, Arteta is now compelled to search for a deadly attacker who can score 20 goals or more in a single season in order to increase Arsenal’s chances of winning the Premier League.

This season, Ivan Toney has been one of Arsenal’s top targets; Brentford is said to be seeking a fee of about £100 million for the midfielder. Teams like Chelsea and Tottenham will also be fierce rivals for the player’s signing. Arsenal’s second target is Victor Bonafice, an attacker for Bayer Leverkusen. As the football season progresses, Bonafice has become one of Europe’s most prolific goal scorers. After relocating from Belgium in the summer of 2023, Boniface is now playing in Germany and has scored 16 goals in 23 games. In the Bundesliga this year, only Harry Kane has scored more goals than the Nigerian.

Victor Bonafice may be gifted in front of goal, but in recent years, he has struggled with conditioning. The 23-year-old’s history of two ACL injuries may be cause for serious worry. In addition to the fresh transfer possibilities, Thomas Partey’s departure has been anticipated. Still, it doesn’t appear probable that the player will leave given the lack of interest from other teams. The midfielder has been under consideration by Juventus for a few months, but the club decided not to sign him, according to Italian news source CalcioMercato. The Ghanaian international is now recuperating from a thigh injury and has only made five appearances for Arsenal this season. It will be intriguing to see what the Gunners star’s future holds.
