Ambati Rayudu chooses CSK’s next captain: “If Mahi Bhai Grooms Him for a Year or So, Then He Can Lead Team For 10 Years”

Ambati Rayudu, a former cricketer for India, has chosen the player who would take the helm of Chennai Super Kings going forward if the great Mahendra Singh Dhoni chooses to leave the Indian Premier League. This year, Dhoni guided CSK to a record-tying sixth IPL championship, but the future of his leadership role with the franchise is still unclear as he nears the conclusion of his playing days. The storied wicketkeeper said after the conclusion of IPL 2023 that he will make every effort to participate again the following season, but nothing has been decided yet.

Rayudu believes that brilliant opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has a tremendous opportunity to succeed Dhoni as captain, but the illustrious wicketkeeper has to train him for a year or two first.

I believe Ruturaj has a fantastic possibility for the future. He has such leadership traits. He can manage the squad for 7-8 or even 10 years if Mahi bhai invests the time to nurture him, say for a year or two. With Fleming and Mahi bhai, he is in capable hands. He is composed, grounded, and very skilled,” stated Rayudu.

Rayudu said that Team India is not using Gaikwad to its full potential.

He (Gaikwad) is best used by India. They are not at the present, in my opinion. He ought to represent India in every manner, the speaker said.

Gaikwad will captain the Indian side in the Asian Games while the BCCI chose a backup lineup for the multi-nation competition in China.

Men’s and women’s teams will compete at the 19th Asian Games, which are set to run from September 23 to October 8. He was also selected for India’s Test team for the current West Indies series, however he was unable to play his first red-ball match.

Ruturaj Gaikwad is the captain of Team India’s Senior Men team, which also includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Rahul Tripathi, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Shivam Mavi, Shivam Dube, and Prabhsimran Singh (wk).

Yash Thakur, Sai Kishore, Venkatesh Iyer, Deepak Hooda, and Sai Sudharsan are on the roster of available players.
