There has been a change in the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup. Shardul Thakur has been included in the main squad in place of spinner all-rounder Axar Patel. The ICC had earlier set October 10 as the last date to make changes in the squad for the T20 World Cup, which was later extended. Shardur has done really well in the last few days. His performance in IPL has also been good while playing for Chennai Super Kings.

The selectors of the Indian team on Wednesday announced a change in the squad selected for the T20 World Cup on 13 October. Spinner Axar Patel was dropped from the 15-man squad and Shardul Thakur has been included. Earlier, the inclusion of spinner Yuzvendra Chahal in the squad selected for the T20 World Cup was advocated by many former veterans. In view of Hardik Pandya being unable to bowl due to injury, a fast bowler was included in the team. The suggestion was also coming continuously. 

The BCCI gave this information to the fans of the team through social media. Sharing a picture of Shardul Thakur celebrating a wicket, it has been announced that in place of Akshar, Shardul will be part of Team India for the Team World Cup. There were constant reports about the selection in the Indian team that there is a possibility of a change which was done on Wednesday. Shardul was given a place as a reserve player in the team selected for the World Cup.

Shakib has now reached the sixth position in the list of batsmen who have scored the most runs in the T20 World Cup. He left behind Indian opener Rohit Sharma. He scored 46 runs in 37 balls against PNG. Thanks to this innings, he took the runs in the World Cup to 675 runs. Rohit has scored 673 runs in the tournament. Shakib managed to overtake him by two runs. However, till now India has not played a single match in this World Cup.
