Before the Asia Cup, Afghanistan will host Pakistan for a three-match ODI series in Sri Lanka

In Sri Lanka, a three-match ODI series between Afghanistan and Pakistan will take place as part of the teams’ preparation for the ACC Asia Cup and ICC ODI World Cup. The first two games are scheduled for August 22 and 24 in Hambantota, while the third and final game is scheduled for August 26 in Colombo.

After winning a three-match T20I series earlier this year in Sharjah by a score of 2-1, Afghanistan is ready to host Pakistan for the second time in a bilateral series this year. Pakistan has won all four of the one-day international matches it has played against Afghanistan.

When the two teams last faced off in this format, it was during the league stage of the 2019 Men’s ODI World Cup in England, which Pakistan won.

“Our team’s confidence has been strengthened for the Pakistan series by our recent ODI assignment, a 2-1 series win in our away visit to Bangladesh. We are happy with our Asia Cup preparations because we recently participated in several ODIs in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and playing Pakistan in Sri Lanka will help our team better understand the venue and the conditions there, according to Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) Chairman Mirwais Ashraf.

On August 17, Pakistan’s ODI team will arrive in Sri Lanka, where they will practice on August 19, 20, and 21. Pakistan will take a flight home on August 27 after the conclusion of the series against Afghanistan before taking on Nepal in the first 50-over Asia Cup encounter on August 30 at Multan Cricket Stadium.

The Asia Cup will be co-hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka starting on August 30. In Multan, Pakistan will host three additional games of the Asia Cup in addition to the opening match against Nepal. Nine Asia Cup games, including the championship game on September 17, will be played in Sri Lanka.

Group A includes Pakistan, Nepal, and India, while Group B includes Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. The top two teams from each group will advance to the tournament’s Super 4 round.
