Before the WC final against Australia, Ravi Shastri boldly declares that Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar are “century of centuries” opponents

As batting legend Virat Kohli writes history on Wednesday at the biggest platform for the umpteenth time, former India head coach Ravi Shastri is backing the run machine to smash another significant mark set by his hero, Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar. India’s qualification for the ICC World Cup 203 final at the Wankhede Stadium was guaranteed by a batting masterpiece by Kohli. Australia, led by Pat Cummins, defeated South Africa the day following the first semi-final to book a match with the host nation, India, for the World Cup final.

As a key member of the World Cup commentary team, Shastri believes that Kohli will surpass Tendulkar’s record of 100 centuries in international cricket. After surpassing batting great Tendulkar with a record-breaking century against South Africa on his 35th birthday, Kohli blasted through his 50th One Day International (ODI) century. More ODI hundreds than any other batter in the history of the game have been achieved by Kohli.

The former India head coach Shastri is certain that the 35-year-old is ready to break Sachin’s record of 100 hundreds in his trophy-laden career after Kohli created the ideal picture to beat his hero at the Wankhede. In international cricket, The Little Master is the only hitter with 100 hundreds to his name. “Who would have imagined that anybody would even come close to Sachin Tendulkar’s 100 hundreds? Additionally, he has 80 international hundreds, 50 of which came from the one-day match, making him the greatest scorer. Shastri said on The ICC Review, “Unreal.”

“In the next ten innings, another five hundreds”

“When these players start reeling off hundreds, they score them pretty quickly, so nothing is impossible.” You could see five more hundreds in his following ten innings. He’s included in all three of the game’s forms that you have. It’s mind-boggling to consider that he still has three or four years of cricket left in him, Shastri said.

Leading the World Cup batting rankings is Kohli.

batting symbol When India faced New Zealand in the first semi-final, Kohli broke Tendulkar’s quadruple records. India reached 397-4 in 50 overs thanks to an incredible century from Shreyas Iyer and 117 off 113 balls from Kohli. After taking seven wickets in 48.5 overs, veteran bowler Shami dismissed New Zealand for 327. Kohli, the former captain of India, is predicted to complete the tournament with the most runs scored. In 11 ODI World Cup appearances, he has hit 711 runs.

“He has been amazing.”

“I believe his poise, his demeanor, and his serenity at the crease (in this WC).” He looks like a cat on a hot tin roof, as I have seen him do in past World Cups. He was eager to get started right away. Not that kind of place. He has been patient, guarded, taken a big breath, let himself some time, and accepted his responsibility to bat long into the innings. He’s been amazing, Shastri continued. On Sunday, Team India led by Rohit Sharma will play Australia in the World Cup 2023 final.
