Concerned about the gunman’s petition, NRAI

The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) is in a tangle due to a writ suit that rifle shooter Manini Kaushik filed before the Delhi High Court. Manini, a competitor in the three-position 50-meter rifle event, has filed a writ case to be allowed to participate in the Olympic trials at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges.

Justice Subramonium Prasad hinted that he would summon new trials for all of the shooters in the future when he said at the petition hearing that he did not want to make this writ infructuous.

Even though Justice Prasad said that he wanted to hear from all sides and that Friday would be the next day, briefing attorney Kartik Seth brought up a crucial topic that has only caused further problems for the NRAI.

“I only brought up the issue that, in the interest of fairness, it ought to be applied to all participants if the trials are conducted tomorrow and she receives a favorable ruling. In this sport, conditions are important. If Manini is ordered to shoot alone, it might work in her favor or against her. Thankfully, it seemed that the honorable judge concurred, Seth told The Tribune.

It is thought that Manini will not be permitted to participate in the rifle three-position trials, which are scheduled for tomorrow. As a result, the next hearing date has been scheduled for April 29 and the NRAI was ordered to submit a reply by Thursday.

The body’s representative, NRAI secretary general K Sultan Singh, said that they have made their position clear and that Manini is unable to participate in the trials in accordance with the selection procedure. We said unequivocally that we would not change the rules in response to a single gunman. All shooters must be treated fairly, Singh said.
