“Dhruv Jurel Has All the Qualifications to Advance to the Level MS Dhoni Attained in His Career”

Fans and analysts alike have been praising young wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel for his outstanding performances in the Ranchi Test, which India won by a margin of five wickets. In his lone Test match, the Uttar Pradesh batsman made a heroic 90 in the opening overs when the hosts were desperate for someone to hold on and cut the lead.

In the second essay, he was part of a 52-run undefeated stand with Shubman Gill and hit a match-winning 39 not out as India successfully chased down 192 on a challenging Ranchi wicket.

Because of his performance, Jurel was named Player of the Match, which sparked a debate regarding whether he would stay in the team when Rishabh Pant attempted a cricket return. The latter is now preparing for his return, hoping to play in the next IPL 2024, having been sidelined since surviving a terrifying vehicle accident in December 2022.

Following Pant’s tragedy, the team management gave KS Bharat a lot of leeway and even granted Ishan Kishan his debut in the West Indies last year. The Andhra cricket player has been on leave due to mental exhaustion, despite the fact that he was unable to achieve acceptable outcomes with the bat.

Anil Kumble, the former captain of India, refrained from discussing the selection controversy but acknowledged that Jurel had the necessary qualifications to surpass Dhoni’s career accomplishments.

“Yes, Rishabh Pant is there.” Naturally, we have no idea when he will return or when it will occur. Hopefully sooner for Rishabh. However, apart from that, Kumble said on Jio Cinema, “Yes, he definitely has all the qualifications to go to where MS (Dhoni) attained in his career.

However, he has shown that he can use his offensive and defensive approach temperamentally. He was so confident in that first innings that even while batting with the tail and hats off even behind the stumps, he went after and then smacked those massive sixes,” he said.

Kumble said that Jurel would improve with time and emphasized his ability to take on quick bowlers.

“He’s performed well. in particular, of the quicker bowlers. Once again, Spinners made a few excellent catches, and he will only get better. Even though this is only his second test, I have no doubt that he will only become better as he plays more and more. Furthermore, it bodes good for India. And it’s great to have him on a team,” he said.

The spin legend said that it must have been tough for KS Bharat to be benched in the midst of the series. It’s also a reality, however, that Jurel took advantage of both and established himself.

Indeed, KS Bharat has not had an easy time. But for that reason, as I said before, the selectors picked him despite only seeing him in 15 first-class games. Saying something like, “This is the guy we believe in,” and introducing him in the previous test. Since then, he has performed admirably and participated in the game because, in my opinion, batting is incredibly important. “I don’t want to put any kind of dampener on this at all because that is not my intention,” he said.
