Ex-Indian All-rounder Says of Young Yashasvi Jasiwal, “He Has the Off-side Game Just Like Dada,” Sourav Ganguly

Irfan Pathan, an ex-all-rounder for India, gave Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has been creating quite a stir in international cricket, high praise. The left-hander has amassed 637 runs at an astounding average of 57.90 in 6 Tests since making his debut for his country in the West Indies last year. He has hit two hundred and as many fifties. His T20I stats are likewise astounding. Jaiswal has amassed 502 runs—including a century—at a strike average of 161.93 in 17 games.

Recent heroism by Jaiswal occurred in the second Test of the current five-match series in Visakhapatnam against England. The 22-year-old Rohit Sharma, who opened alongside the captain, scored his first-ever double hundred as the home team triumphed by 106 runs.

Speaking to a group of schoolchildren on Star Sports, Pathan expressed his admiration for Jaiswal’s thus-far accomplishments in international cricket. The new hitters have a good off-side game, similar to that of former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly, the former all-rounder continued.

I have great anticipation for one particular player, Yashasvi Jaiswal. We now need to wait and watch how he does in the IPL. What a captivating athlete he is… Player ka kamal hai. Like Dada, he can play the off-side game (Sourav Ganguly). Similar to how we used to describe him as the “king of the off-side” when we saw him. We will talk about his game as much as we talked about Dada’s if he plays for the next ten years. That’s the kind of player Jaiswal is.

He went on, “And he has a great backstory and he has scored a double hundred in international hundred.”

Following Jaiswal’s century against England last week, Pathan shared a motivational statement to acknowledge the young player’s accomplishments.

He had nowhere to dwell, so he slept on the grounds; now, he is disturbing the bowlers and keeping them awake. “Ghar na hone ki wajah se Maidaan mein sone wala ladka aaj bade khiladoyo ko maidaan mein jaga bhi raha hai bhaga bhi raha hai.” “Excellent performance, Yashasvi Jaiswal #INDvsENGT,” Irfan Pathan posted on Facebook.

The third Test between India and England will see Jaiswal make his comeback on Thursday in Rajkot.
