Arshdeep Singh’s Wicket-Grabbing Magic Continues in County Against Northamptonshire

Arshdeep Singh, an Indian pacer who plays for Kent in his first County season, is getting better. The left-arm fast added two more victims to his resume in his second encounter against Northamptonshire after taking four wickets in the first match he played against Surrey.

The new Dukes ball conversation was initiated by Arshdeep when the opposition decided to bat first. His first over, which saw him dismiss captain Luke Procter and opener Emilio Gay for 15 each, was plenty to demolish the Northamptonshire top order. Kent Captain Jack Leaning took both catches at second slip.

Videos of Arshdeep’s dismissals were posted on the Kent CCC’s official Instagram account.

In 15 overs, Arshdeep produced statistics of 2/56. Wes Agar of Australia collected the second five-wicket haul of his first-class career, while Hamidullah Qadri of Pakistan took three wickets to aid Sussex in holding Northamptonshire to a meager 237 total. With a strong 97, batsman Rob Keogh helped Northamptonshire mount a comeback. Sam Whiteman (40), Tom Taylor (35), and Saif Zaib (26) all made significant contributions.

By catching Surrey wicketkeeper-bat Ben Foakes in front and then dismissing tailender Daniell Woraal for 12, Arshdeep earlier claimed his first County wicket. But in the second innings, when he knocked over Jamie Smith, it was his greatest dismissal.

Rahul Dravid, the head coach of India, was a major factor in Arshdeep’s decision to transfer to Kent, according to Arshdeep before.

Feeling content and ecstatic to be here and a part of such a fantastic brand. I’ve been informed by family members back home that it is a wonderful county with a deep history. It has a familiar vibe. In a video the club released before the game, Arshdeep stated, “It’s simply colder here than at home.

Arshdeep has so far played in seven first-class matches and has not shied away from showcasing his skill, taking 25 wickets at an average of 23.84. In his last position, Arshdeep played for Punjab Kings in the IPL 2023 and claimed 17 victories.
