Forestry College wins the overall championship

At the 8th Annual Inter-College Sports Meet, which was organized by Dr. YS Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry in Nauni, the College of Forestry triumphed. Every one of the university’s four constituent institutions participated in the three-day event.

The thrilling Kabaddi finals for both the men’s and women’s teams captivated the spectators and were the event’s high point. The main visitor was Dr. AS Chandel, the former welfare officer for students.

In his speech, he expressed his gratitude to the winners and competitors and emphasized the critical role that sports play in promoting a culture of cooperation and competitiveness. Vice-Chancellor Professor Rajeshwar Chandel praised the athletes for bringing excitement to the contests and for their excellent sportsmanship. He emphasized his happiness at seeing students succeed in extracurricular activities as well as academics, which is consistent with the university’s goal of fostering students’ holistic development.

In the thrilling women’s kabaddi final, the College of Forestry defeated the College of Horticulture by a slim margin, winning 35–33 in the end. Conversely, the College of Horticulture easily defeated Forestry College in the men’s division, ending with a 48-32 score.

In men’s volleyball, Neri College took home the winner’s trophy, while Horticulture College finished in second place. Horticulture College won first place in the women’s division, with Thunag College coming in second. The men’s basketball team from Forestry College defeated Neri College to win the trophy, while Horticulture defeated Thunag in the women’s division.

The College of Forestry’s football teams, both male and female, defeated the College of Horticulture to win their respective championships. In both the men’s and women’s badminton divisions, the College of Horticulture defeated the Forestry College. The men’s table tennis team from Horticulture College won the trophy after beating Neri College, while the women’s team from Forestry College triumphed against Horticulture. In the men’s division, Horticulture College won the Chess Trophy, while Thunag College finished second. In the women’s division, Forestry College triumphed against Horticulture College.

With Mridul and Kamini winning the “Puran Anand Adhlakha Best Sportsperson” award and Amit and Anjali winning the “Best Athlete” award, Forestry College swept both the individual and overall honors. The College of Forestry won the overall trophy with a remarkable total of 229 points, followed by the College of Horticulture in second place with 202 points. During the closing ceremony, the principal guest gave the winners their awards.
