ICC Cricket World Cup, Afghanistan vs. India, Toss Report: Afghanistan Chooses To Bat First

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between Afghanistan and India was played on Wednesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Afghanistan won the toss.

Afghanistan won the toss for today’s India v. Afghanistan match and elected to bat first. This is the two countries’ second meeting in the 2018 ICC Cricket World Cup, which will take place at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

In their second game of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 against Afghanistan, the Men in Blue will be seeking to build on their uplifting but flawed performance against Australia.

The hosts will be hoping that after the top order meltdown against Australia, they can recover and resume normal operations with their sights set on the big prize and the stakes raised above all others.

Afghanistan will be looking to rebound with their first World Cup victory after suffering a painful defeat to Bangladesh in which they crumbled under the Tigers. However, they are aware that the mission itself will not be simple.

Shahidi, the Afghanistan captain, said, “We will bat first. It seems to be an excellent batting surface. In order to contain them, we have a strong bowling assault. We want to use the bat to rebound off of what seems to be a decent surface. We’re having fun and getting an opportunity to show off our abilities. We are sending the same group.

Rohit Sharma of India said, “We were hoping to bat second. The quantity of dew was visible to us last night. The wicket won’t likely alter all that much. Need to bowl well and return to bat more effectively. We were initially under pressure, but KL and Kohli batted superbly, and we are quite proud of them. We played well, so maybe we can build on that performance and keep moving ahead. When Ashwin loses, Shardul Thakur steps forward to fill the gap.

FACE TO FACE

There have only been three ODI matches between India and Afghanistan. With two victories, India has a definite lead in those games. Both teams tied in the third game they played. Afghanistan will be seeking their first ODI win against the Men in Blue going into the game.
