India-Pakistan Test cricket, according to Rohit, would be “awesome.”

India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, has expressed his support for a possible return of Test cricket between his country and Pakistan, calling it “awesome”.

Since their 1947 split at the end of British colonial authority, the neighbors in South Asia have fought three wars against one other and are fierce political foes.

Since 2007, there has not been a Test match between their cricket teams. Rather, they participate in international competitions mostly on neutral ground and very seldom in the shortened variants of the game.

On Thursday, Rohit made an appearance on a YouTube discussion program facilitated by former Australian and English captains Adam Gilchrist and Michael Vaughan.

When Vaughan questioned Rohit about whether facing Pakistan in a Test series would help the five-day match, he said, “I totally believe that.”

They have a strong bowling lineup, a competitive squad, and a nice contest. That would be fantastic, especially if you play in foreign settings,” the 36-year-old said.

“I’d be thrilled to. Why not? It would be a fantastic competition between the two teams.”

Australia has declared that it would be ready to host the opposing teams’ series.

Since 2012, there hasn’t been a bilateral series between India and Pakistan played on home grounds.

A portion of the white-ball Asia Cup was held in Sri Lanka last year due to India’s refusal to go to Pakistan.

The 50-over World Cup in India in October was their most recent meeting.
