India releases their 23-member SAFF U-19 Championship squad

Shuvendu Panda, head coach of India’s national under-19 team, on Friday unveiled the 23-member roster for the SAFF U-19 Championship, which gets underway on September 21 in Kathmandu.

The team travelled early on Friday to Saudi Arabia for an exposure and training camp, from which they will depart on September 19 for the capital of Nepal.

While Group A includes the hosts, Maldives, and Pakistan, Group B includes India, Bhutan, and Bangladesh.

The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals after a single round-robin group stage. The championship game will be held on September 30.

In the Under-20 division, India hosted the competition the previous year and won it 5-2 against Bangladesh.

The only previous occasion the U-19 division of the event was conducted was in 2015 in Nepal, when the hosts beat India on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time.

Goalkeepers: Manjot Singh Parmar, Divyaj Dhaval Thakkar, and Lionel Daryl Rymmei.
Defenders: Jahangir Ahmad Shagoo, Ricky Meetei, Vijay Marandi, A Siba Prasad, Manabir Basumatary, Surajkumar Singh Ngangbam, and Thomas Kanamoottil Cherian.
Ishaan Shishodia, Arjun Singh Oinam, Yash Chikro, Ebindas Yesudasan, Raja Harijan, and Thumsol Tongsin are all midfielders.
Forwards: Kelvin Singh Taorem, Linky Meitei Chabungbam, Gwgwmsar Goyary, Sahil Khurshid, Naoba Meitei, and Dinesh Singh Soubam.
