India Star Is Still Excited To Play 100 Tests Despite Being Cut Out Of The England Series

The captain of the Indian squad during the historic Border-Gavaskar Test series victory in Australia in the 2020–21 season, Ajinkya Rahane, is in a difficult situation as it seems that he has lost interest in playing for the Indian side.

Rahane, who is now playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy, is aware of his circumstances but is still committed to making a run at 100 Tests for India. During the West Indies tour in July 2023, Rahane made his last appearance for India. The 35-year-old, Mumbai’s Ranji Trophy skipper, has played in 85 Test matches. “My objective is to win the Ranji Trophy and also to play in 100 Test matches,” Rahane said to media after Mumbai’s second straight victory in the league.

“I’m focused on performing well for Mumbai and taking each game one step at a time.” In his first tournament match, Rahane was unable to access his account.

Regarding the team’s performance so far, he stated: “We’ve had a great start to the season. Being consistent is the difficulty since winning the Ranji Trophy depends on maintaining consistency over an extended period of time.

“We want to approach each game as it comes up. Since it’s a home-away format, the circumstances are always shifting. We need to stay present and assess the condition of the wickets,” he said.

Cheteshwar Pujara is another veteran of the Test match who is putting in a lot of effort to rejoin the national squad, much like Rahane. Despite having achieved a double ton in his most recent game, Pujara was left off the team for the first two Test matches against England by the selectors.
