Inter-district cricket match won by Mohali

At Mohali’s IS Bindra PCA Stadium, the Mohali boys won the Punjab State Inter-District U-23 Cricket Tournament for the Dhruv Pandove Trophy after defeating Amritsar 1-0 in the first innings.

In their first innings of play, the hosts batted first and were all out for 516 in 155.2 overs. Jovanpreet Singh (99 with 12 boundaries and a six) and Aryan Bhatia (98 with 14 boundaries) both missed out on massive scores, while Rushil Srivastava (105 runs with 15 boundaries) continued to be the team’s leading scorer. Other notable scores for the team were Anshul Negi (63, six boundaries and a six), Karteek Sharma (46, four boundaries and a six), Ayush Goyal (43, three boundaries and four sixes), and Harshdeep Singh (29, four boundaries).

For the bowling side, wickets were shared by Varinder Singh Lohat (2/69), Arshdeep Singh (2/99), Assem Kohli (2/73) and Abhay Chaudhary (2/46).

The Amritsar boys responded by being dismissed in 139.1 overs at 458. Rahul Kumar (89 with four boundaries and two sixes) and Taranveer Singh (114 with 16 boundaries) were the next two highest scorers, along with Abhay Chaudhary (120 runs with 14 boundaries and three sixes). The other scorers for the team were Manroop Singh (20), Lohat (29) and Assem Kohli (48).

For the bowling side, wickets were gained by Arshpreet Singh (3/53), Harshdeep Singh (3/165), and Ayush Goyal (3/87). The PCA vice-president, PMS Banga, gave the victors a cash prize of Rs. 1,50,000, while the runners-up team received a reward of Rs. 75,000.
