IPL 2024: For a second over-rate offense, Rishabh Pant was fined Rs 24 lakh

In the 2024 Indian Premier League, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, Rishabh Pant, was fined Rs 24 lakh for a second over-rate offense.

Pant committed the infraction of keeping a sluggish over during Wednesday’s match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

A punishment equivalent to 25% of their match costs was imposed on his other teammates.

The IPL stated in a statement, “Rishabh Pant, the captain of the Delhi Capitals, has been fined after his team maintained a slow over rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match against Kolkata Knight Riders.”

Pant was fined INR 24 lakhs since it was his team’s second breach of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct regarding minimum over rate offenses.

“25 percent of their respective match fees, whichever is less, or INR 6 lakhs were individually fined for each member of the playing XI, including the impact player,” the statement said.

After KKR amassed the second-highest total in IPL history—272 for seven—the Delhi Capitals were defeated by 106 runs. The Delhi Capitals have lost their last three games.
