IPL 2024: Jos Buttler comments, “It was important to never give up.”

Jos Buttler, a standout for the Rajasthan Royals, said on Tuesday that he never lost confidence throughout his game-winning hundred here and that he learned from Virat Kohli and Mahendra Singh Dhoni about how to succeed in difficult circumstances.

In the last ball of the match, Buttler, who was injured and missed RR’s previous encounter against Punjab Kings, single-handedly pulled off the highest chase in IPL 2024, destroying Kolkata Knight Riders’ 223 for 6 while staying undefeated at 107 off 60 balls. Even though he was having trouble walking toward the finish, he persisted. “Today, maintaining faith is the true secret. I was having some trouble with my rhythm. There are moments when you feel irritated or self-conscious. I remind myself to be cool and keep moving; you’ll find your rhythm again. It’s alright.

“You’ve seen insane things occur several times throughout the IPL. At the post-match press conference, Buttler said, “Guys like Dhoni and Kohli, the way they stay till the end and keep believing, and I tried to do the same.” The Englishman also gave appreciation to Kumar Sangakkara, RR’s Director of Cricket, for helping him to believe in himself more.

“That’s something Sanagakkara has told me a lot – there’s always a breaking point,” he said. “Giving up and losing your wicket is the worst thing you can do. All he says to me, Sangakkara, is to remain there, and eventually things will pick up steam. For the last several years, it has played a significant role in my show.” He called his knock on Tuesday his best-ever IPL innings. “I believe that (greatest IPL innings). really fulfilling.” Buttler is a unique player, and no target is safe when he is in form, according to RR captain Sanju Samson.

“I’m thrilled to have won. Like the wickets we lost, we were curious. We felt like we were in the game until Rovman (Powell) smashed a few sixes. They also had some luck, since they were very good players. Their spin was excellent, and they bowled quite effectively. This terrain suited them well.I’m glad Jos (Buttler) accomplished what he has for us over the last six to seven years. Buttler’s hit ought to land squarely on top. Since he is the opener, every run that he hits may be scored. “He has a unique ability,” he said. Shreyas Iyer, the captain of KKR, claimed that his squad had to swallow a hard pill.

“I would second that actually (bitter pill to swallow), emotions were a roller coaster, certainly didn’t think we will get into this situation.”After losing by two wickets, Iyer said, “It’s a funny game at the end of the day, he (Jos Buttler) was striking the ball cleanly and timing them so well, have to take it on the chin and move on.”
