IPL 2024 Orange Cap (Updated): Despite RCB’s loss to LSG, Virat Kohli is back at the top

IPL 2024 Orange Cap (Updated): As he recaptured the top rank from Riyal Parag, Virat Kohli, the standout batter for the Royal Challengers Bangalore, won back the title of IPL 2024’s highest run-getter.

In RCB’s most recent game against the Lucknow Super Giants, Kohli hit 22 runs off of 16 balls, which was sufficient to make him the tournament’s top run scorer.

After four games, Kohli has amassed 203 runs with a strike rate of 140.97 and an average of 67.67.

In the competition, he has already hammered two half-centuries and set a tournament record with 83 runs against the Kolkata Knight Riders.

However, Royal Challengers Bengaluru lost to LSG by 28 runs, their second home loss of the season. They are still the only team to lose games at home.

Following Kohli in the top spot is Riyan Parag of the Rajasthan Royals, who has amassed 181 runs in three games after three consecutive half-centuries.

He has been in incredible form, scoring runs at an average of 181 and setting a career-high 84 against the Delhi Capitals.

Heinrich Klaasen, a wicketkeeper-battler for Sunrisers Hyderabad, is ranked second on the list after scoring 167 runs at an average of 83.50 in three games.

Nicholas Pooran and Quinton de Kock of LSG played well against RCB and made significant contributions to their team’s victory.

With 146 runs, Pooran—who scored 40 off 21 against the RCB—has surged to the fourth position. Quinton de Kock, who hit 81 off 56 last night, is in fifth place.

“It was jumping and retaining its pitch. We sometimes lost wickets, so I wanted to bat longer. On our squad, he is bowling like a rocket. He is leading his squad with great simplicity and performance. I suppose that’s why Pooran gets paid so much (on opponents’ inability to keep Pooran quiet). After the match against RCB, de Kock said, “If you have played at the same venue before, conditions are never quite the same as an opener.”

Regarding the game, LSG was placed to bat first and, with to valuable contributions from De Kock and Pooran, amassed a formidable score of 181/5 in their 20 overs.

As they chased the mark, RCB lost their third match of the year after being bowled out for only 28 runs in 19.4 overs.
