Justice for Sanju: Shashi Tharoor laments the silence surrounding the RR star’s hopes for the World Cup

Ahead of the T20 World Cup in 2024, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has once again shown his support for Sanju Samson. The Indian Premier League’s 2024 season has seen the RR skipper, who has been in fantastic form, get little attention, according to Tharoor. Samson’s repeated exclusion from ICC competitions has been criticized by Tharoor, who also said that the wicketkeeper batter deserves justice.

Tharoor has backed the gifted player before. This is not the first time. Prior to the 50-over World Cup in 2023, Tharoor had requested an explanation from the selectors for not giving Samson a long rope. In response to a tweet from former India cricketer Harbhajan Singh endorsing Samson for a slot in the T20 World Cup 2024, Tharoor responded on Wednesday, April 24.

“Happy to concur with my colleague Member of Parliament, Harbhajan Singh, about Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sanju Samson! have long maintained that Sanju hasn’t received the selectoral breaks he is due. Even if he is now the IPL’s top keeper-batsman, the topic of the team is never brought up. Sanju deserves justice!” On the morning of April 24, Tharoor tweeted.

Samson should be the Indian team’s first choice keeper when they go to the US and the West Indies to compete in the global event, according to a tweet sent out by Harbhajan after the RR vs. MI match. With 314 runs from 8 games, Samson is presently the fifth-highest scorer in the competition.

A portion of Indian cricket supporters are incensed with Samson for his frequent absences from international competitions. In Indian cricket, Samson is revered as a cult figure, and whenever he plays outside of India, the audience roars.

SAMSON’S FINCH PRAISES
Prior to now, Sanju Samson received acclaim from former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch for his leadership and batting in the Indian Premier League 2024. Speaking on Star Sports, Finch said that Samson has led Rajasthan remarkably well in the competition in addition to playing the scenario while batting in every game.

“He has been playing incredibly mature innings, which is what the club needs from him. Aaron Finch said on Monday on Star Sports, “I think that in T20 cricket, a batsman’s ego can sometimes get in the way of what the team needs, but he’s been playing every situation exactly how it’s needed to be done.”

“I believe he’s guiding the team really well; you can see the Rajasthan Royals’ composure under duress. They’ve been so clinical throughout this IPL, and a lot of credit has to go to Sanju for that, in my opinion. The only game they’ve lost was when they had that collapse against GT right at the end of the game,” Aaron Finch said.
