Mickey Arthur and two other coaches were fired when the PCB failed to locate an NCA “clause” in the contract

Following the senior team’s dismal recent performance, which included a disastrous World Cup campaign, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has chosen to split ways amicably with its foreign coaches, Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn, and Andrew Puttick. Zaka Ashraf, the chairman of the PCB, and Salman Naseer, the chief operational officer, will negotiate a final settlement with the trio, a top board official announced on Tuesday.

After learning they were no longer needed by the national team upon their return to Lahore from India, the three members of the Pakistan team management during the Asia Cup and World Cup made the decision to go on vacation.

The three were informed that Mohammad Hafeez had been named director of the Pakistan team and a new set of coaches by the PCB, and that they would instead be employed at the National Cricket Academy.

However, it appears that the board discovered that, despite the fact that the three had agreed to work with the Pakistan squad, there was no provision in their contracts granting them the authority to compel them to work at the NCA indefinitely.

“After some consultations since Mickey is already with Derbyshire and Puttick and Bradburn have found new assignments it was decided to end the matter amicably and release them from their contracts,” added the official.

He acknowledged that the board would be compensating the three by a few months’ worth of income.

Additionally, he attested to the fact that before taking the job, batting coach Puttick had notified the PCB of his new duty with Afghanistan.

In a similar vein, Bradburn has also told the PCB that Glamorgan, an English county, wants him to be their head coach.

Despite having a new team director and coaches, the Pakistani squad lost 3-0 in Australia.

In April and May of last year, the PCB recruited Arthur, Puttick, and Bradburn during the tenure of Najam Sethi, the previous head of the cricket management committee.
