Pakistan will be coached by Mohammad Hafeez during tours of Australia and New Zealand: Report

Mohammad Hafez is also expected to serve as head coach, having been named director of the Pakistan Cricket Team the day before. On Wednesday, the former captain took Mickey Arthur’s spot in a reorganization that occurred after Babar Azam gave up his position in several configurations.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly intends to combine the positions of head coach and team director into one. Based on it, in December and January, respectively, Hafeez would lead the side in three Test matches held in Australia and five Twenty20 matches held in New Zealand.

It was not until Arthur’s hiring earlier this year that Pakistan had a team director. Arthur would travel with the team for select series and tournaments under the terms of a pact negotiated by former PCB president Najam Sethi, who would still have control over the squad when he was unable to play.

According to the investigation, there was no discernible change between Arthur and Bradburn’s individual tasks while they were working together. As a result, it gave the PCB permission to skip one post.

Additionally, the PCB said that their jobs would be “reassigned,” although no other information has been provided. Bradburn and Arthur won’t be traveling to Australia and New Zealand with the squad, since Hafeez will be taking over as coach without any previous coaching experience.

For Hafeez, who was named team director after a major controversy in Pakistan Cricket, it’s a significant boost. For the former captain, it would provide a whole new task when he starts his coaching career in Australia later this year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) named Shan Masood as the Test captain and Shaheen Afridi as the T20I skipper after Babar quit as the team’s captain for all forms of cricket earlier on Wednesday.

Australia tour by Pakistan

On November 30, Pakistan will depart for Australia. They are supposed to play a warm-up match at the Manuka Oval against the Prime Minister’s XI from December 6 to 9. In Perth, the first Test begins on December 14.
