Rahul Dravid gives Akash Deep a test cap as India makes a single alteration for the fourth Test against England

Young pacer Akash Deep from Bengal was given his Test debut by Team India as they look to win the series in Ranchi. On the first day of the fourth Test, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid gave the 27-year-old Bengali bowler his first cap before to the toss.

In order to minimize his workload, India’s leading pacer Jasprit Bumrah has been replaced by Akash Deep for the 4th Test at Ranchi. Akash has amassed 104 wickets at an average of 23.58 in 30 games, which is quite an excellent first-class record.

In his first-class career, the right-arm speedster has claimed seven four-wicket scores and four five-wicket scores.

To get into the playing XI, Akash defeated Mukesh Kumar, another pacer from Bengal. At the beginning of the third Test match at Rajkot’s Niranjan Shah Stadium, Mukesh was cut from the team to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy.

He unfortunately lost out on selection when the Indian team management chose to choose Akash over Mukesh when he returned to the squad for the fourth Test.

“After being added to India’s squad for the last three Test matches against England, I was hopeful that I might get a Test call-up if I keep performing, but I didn’t expect that it would come by the third match itself,” Akash Deep told PTI.

Since he participates in the prestigious Indian Premier League (IPL) with Royal Challengers Bangalore, Akash has already had a taste of the competition.

The playing eleven for India:

Mohammed Siraj, Ravichandran Ashwin, Akash Deep, Kuldeep Yadav, Shubman Gill, Rajat Patidar, Sarfaraz Khan, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel (wk), and Yashasvi Jaiswal

England’s lineup for play:

Ben Stokes (c), Ben Foakes (wk), Tom Hartley, Ollie Robinson, James Anderson, Shoaib Bashir, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, and Zak Crawley.
