Stock market updates: L&T falls 5%, Sensex falls 200 points, and Nifty closes at 22,250

Sensex Today: On Thursday, the benchmark indexes Nifty50 and Sensex began trading down, following a variety of global signals.

Sensex dropped 0.09 percent to 73,399.83 levels, while Nifty50 began 0.07 percent down at 22,286.50 levels.

M&M and HCLTech were two of the top gainers on the BSE, while Asian Paints and L&T were the top losers.

In the same vein, Hero MotoCorp and Bajaj Auto had significant gains on the NSE, while L&T and HDFC Lifer saw significant declines.

Nifty MidCap was down 0.12% in the overall markets, while SmallCap slightly increased.

Nifty Auto topped the sector with a gain of 1.24 percent, closely followed by PSU Banks, which saw a gain of 1.01 percent. FMCG, on the other hand, dropped the most—0.62%.

Worldwide Cues

The market mood in the Asia-Pacific area is not uniform ahead of China’s April trade data and Japan’s pay numbers.

The Nikkei in Japan had a little increase of 0.26%, while the Kospi in Korea witnessed no movement. On the other hand, the ASX200 in Australia fell by more than 0.55%.
