Du Plessis and Sam Curran were disciplined for breaking the IPL Code of Conduct

The Indian Premier League (IPL) stated on Monday that Punjab Kings captain Salman Khan has been fined 50% of his match costs and Royal Challengers Bengaluru captain Faf Du Plessis has been fined Rs 12 lakh for their respective offenses.

In Sunday’s exciting one-run defeat to the Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens, RCB’s sixth of the current season, Du Plessis was fined for keeping a sluggish over rate.

“At the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 21, 2024, during Match 36 of the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 against Kolkata Knight Riders, Mr. Faf du Plessis, Captain, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, has been fined,” an IPL statement said.

It was the season’s first overrated offense for the RCB.

PBKS lost to the Gujarat Titans on Sunday by three wickets. Sam Curran, on the other hand, was fined half of his match costs for a Level 1 infraction under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.”

According to IPL Code of Conduct Article 2.8, Curran committed a Level 1 offense. He acknowledged the offense and consented to the match referee’s punishment. The match referee’s ruling is definitive and enforceable for Level 1 violations of the Code of Conduct, according to an IPL press release.

Punjab presently sits in ninth position in the standings after suffering their fourth straight defeat to GT.
