Spinner from Bangladesh recalls dismissing Virat Kohli: “I always wanted to take his wicket”

Mehidy Hasan Miraz of Bangladesh has said that getting rid of Virat Kohli was like living out a dream for him. The Bangladeshi offspinner thought back to last year’s bilateral series, when he successfully removed the Indian batsmen.

In the second Test match between India and Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur, Mehidy’s desire came true.

He said in an interview with ESPNCricinfo that the experience made him feel accomplished.

“I’ve always wanted to get him. The Hyderabad review kept him alive. Unfortunately, [Litton Das] dropped him for the ODI series. Getting him out was a wonderful experience, according to Mehidy.

at the second Test against Bangladesh at Mirpur, Kohli did not play well.

The legendary hitter only scored one run in 22 pitches.

Mehidy had a flawless lead-up to Kohli’s departure since during that session, he got rid of Cheteshwar Pujara and Shubman Gill.

In the second innings, he faced Kohli with nine deliveries and only gave up a single.

Kohli advanced for a defensive move against Mehidy’s last ball of the 19th over. Before Mominul Haque made a catch at short leg, the ball touched the inner edge of Kohli’s bat due to some air on it.

After six years of striving, the Bangladeshi cricketer finally had his treasured moment, and he went on to score a fifer in that innings.

However, Mehidy’s efforts were in vain and India went on to win narrowly.

India won by a slim margin of three wickets thanks in large part to their 314-run score in the first innings.

In the first innings, Rishabh Pant scored a critical 93 runs, while Shreyas Iyer added 87 runs.

In the second innings, Ravichandran Ashwin led India to victory with a score of 42 runs off 62 balls.

Mehidy Hasan said that he is preparing for the World Cup of ODIs. “I have no predetermined goal. Setting goals…invites disappointment. I don’t want to feel that,” he remarked, adding that when he prepares properly for a tournament, he typically does well.

On October 7, Bangladesh will play Afghanistan in the first game of the ODI championship.
