Sunil Narine makes a statement outlining his true motivation for not participating in the 2024 T20 World Cup

Sunil Narine, a former West Indies sensation, issued a statement outlining his decision to not enter the 2024 T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to take place in the Caribbean and the US, out of retirement. Presently playing for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Indian Premier League (IPL), Narine is showcasing his unmatched skill set. In seven games, Narine has amassed 286 runs at a strike percentage of 176.54.

In the statement, Narine responded to the flood of messages from supporters pleading with him to reconsider his retirement decision and play for the West Indies in the T20 World Cup. It is noteworthy that Narine declared his intention to retire in 2023.

“I hope everyone reading this is doing well and enjoying their health. In a statement, Narine stated, “I am genuinely touched and humbled that my recent performances have inspired many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup.”

Why won’t Narine exit her retirement?
In his statement, Narine explained the true rationale for his decision to retire and said that players who have put in a lot of work in the preceding months need to have the opportunity to compete in the ICC competition.

“Although I never want to let anybody down, I’ve come to terms with that choice, and I’ll be rooting for the boys who play for the West Indies in June. Guys that deserve to prove to our amazing supporters that they are deserving of another championship after putting in a lot of effort over the previous several months. “I hope the best for you,” Narine added.

In addition to being essential to the West Indies’ maiden T20 World Cup victory in 2012, Narine was also crucial to KKR’s two victories in the lucrative competition.
