Virat Kohli, who is unable to play, is replaced by Rajat Patidar for the first two Test matches against England

For the opening two Tests of the five-match series against England, Rajat Patidar has been called up to replace the injured Virat Kohli, according to sources.
For personal reasons, Virat Kohli withdrew from the team; he is expected to rejoin them for the third Test forward.

According to reports, Patidar accompanied the Indian squad in Hyderabad and was present at the BCCI’s Naman Awards in the same city where the first Test will take place on Thursday.
Patidar, a local player for Madhya Pradesh, is renowned for his long-format attitude and his background batting at number four.
After an eight-month injury layoff, he has been playing well. Last week, in Ahmedabad, he scored 151 against the England Lions.
The 30-year-old right-handed hitter made his debut for his country last year when he opened an ODI against South Africa.
The BCCI selectors have apparently shown that they want to look forward by choosing Patidar above the seasoned Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane. Meanwhile, Mumbai’s Sarfaraz Khan has been forced to wait longer despite regularly making runs in the local circuit.
