“Virat, please do this,” AB de Villiers counsels Kohli

NEW DELHI: Former South African cricket great and legendary member of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), AB de Villiers, has emphasised the critical role that star batsman Virat Kohli plays in stabilising the team’s middle overs and launching a comeback in the team’s IPL campaign.
Speaking on the present Indian Premier League (IPL) season and RCB’s difficulties, de Villiers emphasised the importance of Kohli’s presence in the middle overs.

“Virat needs to maintain his strong start because the Royals need that glue in the middle overs.” Ultimately, I want to see him play the way we need him to—that is, to go through the first six overs. I want you to stay above 6–15, but let Faf take more of a chance up front. At that point, the RCB will ignite in full force. “Be wary of that,” de Villiers said on his YouTube account.
De Villiers said that despite RCB’s inconsistent start to the competition, the club needs a few big victories to get back on track and move up the IPL rankings.

“A decent but unspectacular start for RCB. It is in the midst, and they need a few victories. Regarding RCB’s performance, de Villiers said, “They’re going to be hitting the road and hopefully they find a good fortune away from home before they come back to the Chinnaswamy.”

As a ten-year mainstay of the RCB squad, de Villiers has amassed an impressive history with the team, with 4,491 runs at an astounding average of 41.20 in 156 games. In the RCB ‘Hall of Fame,’ he joins the likes of cricket greats Vinay Kumar and Chris Gayle for their incalculable contributions.
