“Where is Ishan Kishan? Shreyas Iyer was vice captain,” Aakash Chopra questions about India’s T20I squad

India announced their 16-man roster for the Twenty20 International series against Afghanistan, which sparked a lot of questions about the team’s strategy with the World Cup only five months away.

The three T20I matches India has left before the world cup are against Afghanistan. The players’ performance in the Indian Premier League may serve as a criterion for their eventual inclusion or removal from the T20I championship.

While Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli returned to the Indian team after a nearly 14-month break, Aakash Chopra has questioned the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan.

Notably, Iyer led Australia in the five-match T20I series that started immediately after the ODI World Cup as vice captain. Kishan did, however, take a break after participating in three games and chose not to go on the South Africa trip due to mental exhaustion.

Chopra said, “Iyer was nominated as the Vice-Captain for the 5-match T20i series vs Australia,” in a post on X (previously Twitter). was included in the team against SA as well. now feels unwelcome in the squad against Afghanistan. Dubey played at home against Australia. was not chosen for the SA. rejoining the team against AFG.

Where is Ishan Kishen (sic) as well? Any updates on his availability? He continued.
Given that Rohit and Kohli haven’t played T20Is in more than a year, Deep Dasgupta was also a bit taken aback by the selectors’ decision to go for them again.

Beginning on January 11, matches in the T20I series will be held at Mohali, Indore, and Bengaluru.
