Yuzvendra Chahal is on the verge of breaking the all-time IPL record

Yuzvendra Chahal, the top leg-spinner for the Rajasthan Royals, needs only three wickets to break the all-time IPL (Indian Premier League) record. The cunning spinner is only inches away from being the first player in the game’s history to reach the milestone, having claimed 197 wickets in the lucrative competition.

The gap between Chahal and the other bowlers would widen even more if he took three more wickets, making him the highest wicket-taker in the history of the lucrative tournament.

Chahal leads Dwayne Bravo, the second-highest wicket-taker in the IPL, by 14 wickets. With 181 wickets in 185 games, Mumbai Indians star Piyush Chawla is third in the standings among current players.

With an economy rate of 7.65, Chahal has already appeared in 150 IPL games. Chahal, 33, averages 21.25 while batting with the ball in hand and has six four-wicket innings and one five-for in the competition.

The Haryana native is also drawing near Shane Watson, who leads the Rajasthan Royals in IPL wicket-taking with two. In the IPL, Watson took 61 wickets for Rajasthan, while Chahal has already claimed 58.

Notably, Rajasthan will take on Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their sixth match of the current season on Saturday, April 13, at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur, Chandigarh

Chahal will have a real chance to accomplish the record if he is able to secure a spot in Rajasthan’s starting lineup.

The Rajasthan Royals’ 2024 IPL roster:
