Baba Balaknath, the MP for Alwar in Rajasthan and a member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), submitted his resignation to Om Birla today, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha. He just ran from Tijara, Alwar, in the state assembly elections. This event coincides with ongoing rumors about the Chief Minister of Rajasthan. The rumors that he might become the chief minister of Rajasthan have picked more steam after his resignation. Ten Members of Parliament resigned on December 6th, after their victories in their individual seats in the most recent assembly elections. The decision to step down as MPs was made during a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Party President JP Nadda, according to news agency ANI, citing sources. After winning the Madhya Pradesh state assembly seat, BJP politician Pralhad Singh Patel said to ANI, “I have resigned as an MP and will resign from the post of cabinet minister soon.” After winning from Madhya Pradesh, former minister of agriculture Narendra Singh Tomar, minister of state for food processing industries of India Prahlad Singh Patel, and members of the Lok Sabha Rakesh Singh, Uday Pratap, and Riti Pathak resigned from their positions. Arun Sao and Gomati Sai, two Lok Sabha MPs, resigned after their victories in Chhattisgarh. Following their victories in Rajasthan, Rajya Sabha MP Kirori Lal Meena, Lok Sabha MP Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore, and Diya Kumari have also tendered their resignations. Vasundhara Raje, a seasoned politician and former chief minister, arrived in the nation’s capital on Wednesday night. Raje, who won a new term in the Assembly from the Jhalrapatan assembly seat, told reporters as he arrived in the nation’s capital at the airport, “I have come to visit my daughter-in-law.” Among the leading candidates for the position are reportedly Vasundhara Raje, the state’s two-time chief minister; Diya Kumari, the newly elected MLA from Vidyadhar Nagar; Mahat Balak Nath, the winner from the Tijara constituency; and Rajyavarardhan Singh Rathore, the winner from the Jhotwara constituency.
