The Jubilee Hills Housing Society’s 681 square yards are at issue in a property dispute that actor Jr. NTR has petitioned the High Court over. The property in issue is one that the actor alleges he bought from Sunku Gita in 2003, that he obtained all the approvals legally, and that he started building a home on the site in 2007. However, a number of banks—including Bank of Baroda, SBI, Oriental Commerce, IndusInd, and SBI—came before the Debt Recovery Tribunal (DRT) claiming that, as early as 1996, they had mortgaged the same property and obtained loans against it. The banks filed their claim at the DRT under the Securitization and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest (SARFAESI) Act, and the DRT later found in their favor after an inquiry. Jr. NTR first petitioned the tribunal, contesting the letters sent by the banks and contesting the DRT’s decision. Nevertheless, the DRT affirmed the banks’ rights, pointing out the contradiction that loans had been taken out against the property in 1996 even though NTR had just bought it in 2003. Jr. NTR filed a petition under the general power of attorney (GPA) to take the case to the top court. The petitioner’s attorney asked for more time to serve the DRT docket order at the hearing. The high court denied the request for a further investigation to be held before the vacation bench and postponed the next hearing until June 6. Furthermore, a directive was issued mandating the delivery of comprehensive case documentation by June 3
