24 fatalities from dengue cases in Uttar Pradesh’s 13,000 cases; hospitals on high alert

Dengue cases have been increasing in Uttar Pradesh over the last few days as a result of the weather change. 24 fatalities have been documented in the state so far, according to state government statistics, and the death toll would rise if data from private hospitals were added.

Local hospitals in the majority of the cities have taken on a large number of dengue patients, and they are seeing new cases every day. It is alarming to learn that there have been over 13,000 dengue cases in the state, with Lucknow, Moradabad, Meerut, Kanpur, and Noida being the hotspots. In the last 24 hours, the state has seen the discovery of more than 600 new dengue cases.

The number of dengue cases is projected to rise much more in the coming days as a result of the weather change.

State Health Minister Brajesh Pathak has issued directives to enhance the number of beds at all hospitals in response to these events. Additionally, it has been requested that private institutions designate particular wards for dengue patients.

In Lucknow, more over half of hospitalized dengue patients need dialysis and ventilator support. Dengue sufferers fill every bed in major hospitals, and the number of visitors to the state is rising daily.

Along with dengue, the state is seeing an increase in viral fever, malaria, and typhoid cases. Over 1,080 new dengue cases have been recorded in the last week in Lucknow, 1,024 in Moradabad, and 923 in Kanpur. Seven dengue cases have been found in Gorakhpur while 17 have been found in Varanasi.

Dengue cases are, according to UP Deputy CM Brajesh Pathak, progressively falling. “Mass involvement is required; instructions have been made to supply beds and medications to guarantee awareness and sanitation. Every preparation for drugs, beds, platelets, and personnel has been made, and the department is on high alert,” he told India Today.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, held a high-level meeting at his official residence on Wednesday to assess the situation. He reviewed the Ayushman Bharat scheme’s implementation, the situation with medical colleges that are still under construction, and the efforts being made to prevent dengue and provided the necessary instructions.

In the meeting, the chief minister gave the order to provide more beds in hospitals as needed. “Not a single diseased patient should suffer from a lack of care, whether they live in a countryside or a metropolis. All public and private hospitals, as well as medical schools, must routinely report new cases, and there must be real action taken to stop epidemics in the districts, he added.
