A center for training in disaster aid will be established: UP CM

Using mutual cooperation between the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reviewed the current efforts to improve disaster management operations in the state on Tuesday.

He said that the main prerequisite for disaster relief operations is the availability of trained and skilled workers. “The effectiveness of the relief effort increases with staff competence level. As a result, Yogi stated, it is essential to establish a center for improved training of the state’s disaster management professionals.

He said that reducing the number of fatalities brought on by lightning and thunder during the rainy season is a difficult task. While 301 persons unexpectedly passed away in 52 areas in 2022–2023, 174 casualties have already been recorded in 36 districts in 2023–2024. It must be prevented at all costs, and technology can assist with that. Without delay, effective efforts should be undertaken in this regard.

Yogi Adityanath demanded that early warning systems be installed in all 75 districts within the next three months, claiming that technology has advanced to the point that lightning strikes can now be detected three to four hours in advance and the precise position can be determined an hour beforehand. There won’t be any loss of public funds if individuals get information in a timely manner. He said that it was important to promote digital platforms like the Meghdoot and Damini App, which were created by the Indian government.
