Adityanath: UP Will Be The First State With 18 “Safe Cities”

According to a release, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said on Tuesday that Uttar Pradesh would be the first state in the nation to have 18 “safe cities,” creating an atmosphere that is favorable for each resident’s safety and growth.

“In the next three months, the first phase of developing all 17 Municipal Corporations and Gautam Budh Nagar as ‘Safe Cities’ should be completed.” Interdepartmental collaboration would be used to manage the funding for this, Adityanath stated during a review meeting in this location.

57 district headquarters municipalities should be connected to the Safe City initiative in the second phase, and 143 municipalities should be connected in the third phase, he said. All of these cities should be given special branding by having a signboard that reads “Safe City” at the entrance. The Chief Minister said that by doing this, Uttar Pradesh would have the most secure cities of any state in the nation.

The effort would now also address the protection of the old, kids, and divyangjan in addition to women’s safety, he said. While evaluating the action plan for the state’s Safe City project’s growth, the chief minister issued directives about the development of all the cities.

The efforts undertaken in this area over the last six years have shown encouraging results, he said, adding that the state government is committed to creating an environment that is supportive of each citizen’s safety and growth.

“Every lady and every businessman in the state is secure today. The populace feels secure. We need to be on high alert constantly if we want this notion to endure. In achieving the goal of ensuring women’s safety, dignity, and independence, the Safe City Project is proving to be quite helpful, he stated.

Modern control rooms, pink police booths, Asha Jyoti Kendras, CCTV cameras, support desks for counselors at women’s police stations, emergency buttons on buses, and other security measures were put into place via this project across the state, according to the Lucknow Police Commissionerate, he added.

The Safe City concept is now focused on the security of women. We should broaden it and connect it to the security of divyangjan, kids, and the old. “Safe City will provide the necessary impetus for the campaign to create a safe, protected, and empowered environment for women, children, the elderly, and divyangjan in public places,” he stated.

According to him, the Social Welfare Department and the Urban Development Department should collaborate to systematically rehabilitate insane individuals and beggars. He emphasized that drivers of taxis, e-rickshaws, automobiles, tempos, and other public transportation vehicles should be properly checked by the police in order to realize the notion of a Safe City.
