An Allahabad University teacher faces a Rs 15 lakh fine from the HC for filing false complaints against colleagues

An Allahabad University teacher was fined Rs 15 lakh by the High Court here on Friday for submitting baseless complaints under the SC/ST Act against three of her senior colleagues. The court also dismissed the teacher’s filed FIRs. The assistant professor in the economics department who filed the complaint, according to the court, is well knowledgeable about the law and “had been abusing the provisions of law for personal gain.” In response to her concerns, Professors Manmohan Krishna, Prahlad Kumar, and Javed Akhtar filed petitions, which Judge Prashant Kumar granted.

After hearing from both sides, the court said, “This is a case where there is pure abuse of process of law where the complainant just to wreak personal vengeance against the Head of Department tried to implicate him and his colleagues by filing false and frivolous cases.” “She would submit a complaint against the Seniors, Head of Department, and Professors if they urged her to teach effectively and attend courses on a regular basis. This is not the first instance that has occurred. The court said, “The plaintiff is an educated woman who has been misusing the law for her own benefit. She is well-versed in its provisions.

The court imposed a cost of Rs 5 lakh in each case and said, “The applicant and his colleagues, who are professors and people of high moral character and reputation, had their reputation and public image tarnished due to the filing of frivolous cases.” To rescue themselves, they had to dash from police station to court, pillar to post. The assistant professor of economics filed a police report on August 4, 2016, alleging that the three professors had harassed and humiliated her, using offensive language relating to her caste in their reprimands. The academics were served with summonses by the court, which were later contested before the high court, after the police’s submission of a charge sheet in the case.
