Employees at the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Uttar Pradesh are protesting the suspension of their license

On Sunday, the sixth day of the over 400-person protest over the suspension of the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital’s license in Amethi began.

Following an investigation into the death of the 22-year-old lady, the Uttar Pradesh government’s health authority recently suspended the hospital’s license and shut down its emergency and outpatient departments.

Sanjay Singh, a former Union minister and prominent member of the BJP, said that although the woman’s family should get justice, the hospital should not be closed.

He stated that he will write to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about this and that the hospital should continue to operate until the responsible physicians are punished after an investigation.

The license of the hospital was revoked on September 17.

The lady was brought to the hospital for a quick procedure, but on September 14 her condition worsened and she was transported to a Lucknow private hospital. September 16 marks her passing.

Her spouse said that she passed away in the Amethi hospital from an anesthesia overdose.

The movement will continue until the hospital reopens, according to Sanjay Singh, the leader of the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital Employees’ Union.

In a letter to the state administration, BJP MP Varun Gandhi urged it to rethink its decision to close the hospital. The father of the Pilibhit MP is honored by the hospital’s name.

Party leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra are members of the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust, which oversees the Amethi hospital and is chaired by Congress leader Sonia Gandhi.
