For Phulpur seat, the BJP will assign more than 10,000 social media activists

Prayagraj: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) brass has decided to deploy a five-member social media team at each polling station, a two-member cybercrime team at each Shakti Kendra, and a seven-member social media team at the mandal level in the Phulpur parliamentary constituency in order to refute the narratives of opposing political camps. For the parliamentary constituency of Phulpur, there are 2,058 voting places.

In an interview with TOI, party spokesman Rajesh Kesarwani stated, “Party brass has formed special teams of social media volunteers at mandal, Shakti Kendra, and polling booth levels, respectively. The party is going to make social media platforms a bigger weapon to counter the attacks and narratives of rival camps during the Lok Sabha campaign.” He went on to say that social media volunteers would be led by top party officials in order to combat the attacks of rival groups that uploaded and posted bogus content and misleading information using fictitious identities. Through social media, these volunteers would help the party’s candidates win over more supporters. Additionally, the volunteers would use social media to inform eligible voters about the accomplishments of double engine regimes by distributing short films featuring senior party officials.

“Each of the 2,058 Phulpur parliamentary seat polling booths has five social media volunteers, and they are being engaged in the Phulpur constituency to strengthen the organizational work and poll management for the 2024 polls,” said a senior party official. He went on to say that this constituency has 348 Shakti Kendras, each of which has two cyber “yodha” (warriors). Approximately 10,000 social media volunteers are recruited for the campaign. According to BJP officials, social media platforms are now useful for communicating with eligible voters and are crucial for managing elections.
