Rain-Related Incidents Lead To 10 Deaths In 24 Hours As Downpour Continues In UP

The Uttar Pradesh Relief Commissioner said in a statement at 9 p.m. on Saturday that ten persons have died in rain-related accidents during the previous 24 hours, as rains have continued to batter the state.

“In the previous day, seven individuals were murdered by lightning strikes in the districts of Ballia, Mahoba, and Lalitpur, while two (people) drowned in Rampur. In Sultanpur, one person died from a snakebite, according to the statement.


The Ganga is flowing in Budaun over the danger threshold, according to the Irrigation Department. The river at Bulandshahr and Farrukhabad is getting close to the danger point. In Parayagraj, the Yamuna is also running dangerously.

An official said that after passing the danger threshold, the Yamuna’s water level in Mathura has continued to climb. Acres of crops have been devastated, and there are several communities in the district’s Mant region that are submerged in water. According to him, homes and roadways in low-lying parts of Mathura and Vrindavan have inundated. The district government is acting to save lives and lessen the harm.

The state received 1.02 centimeters of “normal” rainfall in the 24 hours that ended at 8 p.m., according to the Met office. 32 of the state’s 75 districts experienced ‘excess’ rainfall. More rain is expected over the state during the next 48 hours, according to the weather office.
