Union Minister Puri: Soon, Uttar Pradesh would have 100 CBG plants

According to Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Uttar Pradesh will soon have 100 compressed biogas (CBG) facilities. The Union minister emphasized the importance of CBG plants and their role in environmental protection, boosting farmers’ income, and fostering energy self-sufficiency during his speech at the plant’s opening.

There are now ten CBG facilities in the state.

With an expenditure of Rs 165 crore, Indian Oil established the recently opened factory, which would use 200 metric tons of agricultural waste, 20 metric tons of press mud, and 10 metric tons of cow dung per day. It is expected to boost agricultural output by producing around 125 metric tons of organic fertilizer and 20 metric tons of biogas every day.

Puri expressed her satisfaction with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s Green Hydrogen Policy, which aims to protect the environment, and she added that significant investments are expected in this field.

According to the union minister, plans are also in place to build green hydrogen plants in the Sonbhadra district of Uttar Pradesh, an area he adopted.

He linked the CBG facility to the vital role that farmers play in the energy industry.

In addition, he recalled how the nation began distributing gas cylinders sixty years before 2014 and said that, thanks to Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the number of gas connections has increased from 14 crore in 2014 to 32 crore today. He stated that since the Ujjwala initiative was introduced in 2016, 10 crore women—including 8 crore rural women—have received free gas connections.
