UP: Man Caught Pretending to Be an IAF Officer

According to authorities on Tuesday, a guy who was impersonating an Indian Air Force (IAF) official was taken into custody in Bareilly. Inder Kumar Mali (40) told them during questioning that he had lied to his wife about being an air force officer, thus he had come here to get shoes and other things. He was taken into custody outside the Bareilly Air Force Base.

However, Superintendent of Police (City) Rahul Bhati said that upon examination, his identification cards and other papers were discovered to be fraudulent. Three Aadhar cards, three ATM cards, a phony Army ID card, an Army-branded automobile, two cell phones, and five SIM cards were taken from him; as a result, police added that other security agencies have also been notified in this respect.

According to Bhati, he was taken into custody by IAF members outside the Bareilly Air Force Station and given to the police. Mali was recognized because, according to the police, he was mistakenly wearing a flying lieutenant’s outfit. They also said that he was originally from the Uttar Pradesh region of Ballia.

But according to them, he has been residing in Haldawni, Uttarakhand, for the last three years. Mali was charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) after a complaint from Yogendra Yadav, the Assistant Security Officer at the Bareilly Air Force Station, according to the police.

He is accused of violating sections 467 (forgery of valuable security, will, etc.), 468 (forgery with intent to deceive), 471 (using a forged document or electronic record as real), 170 (personating a public officer), and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing handover of property). The Izzatnagar police station is looking into the situation.
