UP Police Sub-inspector suspended for repeatedly raping the officer and enticing him to marry her

A sub-inspector was punished by the Uttar Pradesh police for allegedly persuading a female policeman to marry him and then raping her on many occasions.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Sankalp Sharma suspended Sub-Inspector Ankit Singh on Monday and gave the go-ahead to start the investigation, according to Station Officer (SO) of the Gauri Bazar police station Dinesh Mishra.

On February 15, a lawsuit was filed against the defendant. The allegation states that on March 2, 2020, Singh wooed the female constable—who was then assigned to Azamgarh—into marriage and engaged in a sexual connection with her.

It was reported that he had taken an explicit picture of her. Additionally, Singh allegedly threatened to make the picture widespread on social media, according to the female policeman.

A case was filed against the accused under sections 376 (penalty for rape), 504 (intentional insult with intent to cause breach of peace), and 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code in response to a complaint from the lady constable.

Mishra said that when the female constable visits Deoria in the next two to three days, a medical checkup would be performed.

He went on to say that the accused sub-inspector and the female constable knew one another.
