Samajwadi Party presents a second list of candidates for the MP elections

The Samajwadi Party (SP) unveiled its second list of 22 candidates for the November 17 Madhya Pradesh assembly election late on Wednesday night, amid lingering uncertainty over a potential cooperation between the Congress and Samajwadi Party on certain seats.

As a result, the SP has now officially declared 31 candidates for the MP assembly elections. Nine candidates were included on the party’s first list. After receiving the blessing of party leader Akhilesh Yadav, the second list was made public late on Wednesday.

Shivangi Yadav has been handed the SP’s nomination for the Prithvipur seat in the Niwari district. Former MLA Meera Yadav, the mother of Shivangi Yadav, received a ticket from the SP in its first list for the Niwari seat in the Niwari district. In the same district, the mother and daughter will run for two seats.

Shamshul Hasan, Shama Tanveer, and Rahul Maran (Rawat) are the candidates for the SP from the Bhopal seats of Narela, Central, and Huzur, respectively.

The SP has reportedly been attempting to form an alliance with the Congress in order to run for several seats in Madhya Pradesh, according to party insiders. Akhilesh Yadav is reportedly pressuring the Congress to spare at least 7 seats for SP candidates in those Madhya Pradesh areas that are adjacent to Uttar Pradesh. Previously, the SP had demanded around 15 seats in MP.

The 230 assembly seats in MP would be up for election on November 17. Starting on October 21st, nominations will be accepted.
