UP: Teen Girl Hangs Self at Home As Family Waits to File Harassment FIR at Police Station

According to authorities, a girl in Greater Noida took her own life on Thursday when her father and brother were at the police station to report that she had been harassed by a local guy.

The accused reportedly tormented the girl for a considerable amount of time before visiting her house late yesterday night to grab her phone number and violated her, according to the authorities.

According to a police spokeswoman, a FIR has been filed at the Jewar police station in connection with the incident under section 354 of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act.

“Today, the girl’s brother went to the police and said that the accused, who resides in Jahangirpur, visited his home at approximately 12.30 a.m. He assaulted his sister after requesting her phone number, the police officer said.

“An information was received that the girl had hung herself to death from a hook used to hang clothes at home,” the official said. “The information was received when the girl’s brother and father were at the police station to lodge the complaint.”

According to the police, the post-mortem of the victim was ordered, and a full inquiry into the incident has been opened.

According to the authorities, a preliminary investigation revealed that the girl and the accused knew one another and were in communication.

They said that more inquiry into the situation is ongoing.
