Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh has taken on a new identity amid India’s burgeoning aviation industry

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, said that the presence of three international airports in the state has allowed it to take on a new identity in the nation’s burgeoning aviation industry.

“Uttar Pradesh has 17 airstrips, three international airports, and eight of them are operated by the Indian Air Force.

When inspecting the Civil Aviation Department’s progress on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that the civil works undertaken by the state government in Shravasti, Azamgarh, Chitrakoot, and Aligarh were “commended.”

According to him, development on the airport in Gorakhpur would begin as soon as the survey was finished in July.

An official statement claims that although the state’s freight transportation was 5,895 metric tonnes in the 2016–2017 fiscal year, it grew to 20,813 metric tonnes in the following year, representing a four-fold growth in freight traffic over the preceding six years.

Adityanath said that although the state’s aviation traffic in 2016–2017 was 46,585, it grew to 82,615 in 2022–2023.

In addition to air travel, he said that the number of passengers has grown dramatically as well, from 59.97 lakh in the years 2016–2017 to 96.02 lakh in 2022–2023.

According to the Chief Minister, before the Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj Airport’s capacity should be increased with civil and public amenities, and its lounge capacity should be increased from 300 to 500 people.

In addition, he gave instructions to boost the state’s helicopter capacity.

“Arrangements for RRTS (regional rapid transit system) or Light Metro should be made to improve the connectivity of Jewar Airport,” the man stated.
