201 Maxwell’s Due to Dhoni? What Baffles Thala Fan The connection to Chennai leaves everyone perplexed

In a thrilling ICC World Cup 2023 encounter between Australia and Afghanistan, Glenn Maxwell single-handedly turned the tide of play. On Tuesday at the Wankhede Stadium, the Australian all-rounder hammered an undefeated double-century. All of this has been made possible, however, by Maxwell’s relationship with the legendary MS Dhoni of India, or so a now-viral post on the ‘X’ website by a Thala fan account alleges.

Australia, struggling at 91/7 and asked to chase down 292 points, were all but written off. Cricket fans expected the match to be over quickly and for them to go back to their normal lives when a wild Maxwell broke loose in Mumbai. The explosive batsman not only overcame excruciating cramping throughout his batting innings, but he also played T20-style cricket straight out of his crease without requiring any footwork. After Maxwell’s undefeated 201*, Australia produced one of the most breathtaking moments in the history of the cricket world cup. Twenty-one boundaries and ten maximums later. Afghanistan was taken aback. The Australians were laughing heartily in the changing area.

As cricket fans celebrated wildly both online and in the stadium, Dhoni (as usual) started trending on the website “X.”

“Who can finish a job better?” — Maxwell and Dhoni parallels quickly gained traction on the microblogging platform.

But a fan of Thala went one further and gave Dhoni credit for Maxwell’s winning innings. Sure.

“You will achieve greatness if your life partner is from Chennai, also known as Thala’s den.”

Huge props to Thala for this incredible knock,” the billboard said, including a picture of Maxwell with his spouse Vini Raman.

Vini, an Australian citizen of Indian descent, works as a practicing pharmacist in Melbourne. She is from an Australian Tamil family.

The user suggested that Chennai was the only thing that Dhoni and Vini had in common. In the IPL, Dhoni leads the Chennai Super Kings.

Was the post sincere? Was the message meant to be a mocking satire of all of us common people who automatically give credit to Virat Kohli for pretty much everything that happens on the cricket field? We’d never find out.

What is known is that Australia’s magical powers allowed them to advance to the semi-finals. Australia’s victory has also guaranteed that New Zealand, Pakistan, and Afghanistan will have to work hard to secure the last spot for the 2023 ICC World Cup semifinals.
