A Colombian teen who has had this rare disease since 2020 sheds bloody tears

Following several reports of statues with blood dripping from their eyes, a weird incidence involving a girl crying blood has come to light. And no, we mean it literally rather than as an idiom. Zharick Ramirez, a young 17-year-old Colombian woman from Barranquilla, suffers from a strange illness that causes her to cry bloody tears. She asserts that the coronavirus epidemic that swept the globe in the early years of this decade caused it to first become apparent.

Even while it seems like something out of a terrifying horror movie, the occurrence is really quite based in fact and originated from a medical problem. According to a post on the website Marca, this child had a problem with bleeding from some portions of her body roughly three years ago when the globe was dealing with the corona epidemic. It began from the nose and then began to pour from the eyes like tears. His mouth also began to bleed gradually. The youngster has now enlisted the aid of specialists all across the globe thanks to her tale.

‘Vicarious Menstruation’ is the name given to this uncommon illness by ophthalmologist Luis Escaf. As it happened in Zharic’s case with the conjunctiva, endometrial tissue may expand outside of the endometrium, causing bleeding from the eyes similar to what happens from the uterus during the monthly menstrual cycle.

This kind of bleeding results from capillary permeability, which occurs during menstruation. Because of this, afflicted women feel menstrual bleeding from more than just their vagina, including their nose, ears, nipples, armpits, stomachs, legs, and even their brains.

According to Zharick, nothing in her life has ever been the same after March 2020, and no doctor has yet been able to find a solution to her issue. Worse yet, she hasn’t gotten a lot of sympathy or understanding because of how repulsed and disgusted others are, to the point that her instructor has requested her to stop studying.

Closer to home, a 25-year-old Indian lady was admitted to the hospital after presenting with bloody tears pouring from both eyes, according to a case report that was published in the April 2021 edition of the journal BMJ Case Reports. Zharick is not the only known example in recent memory.

Doctors then discovered that she had experienced the rare sickness a month earlier. She also had nasal bleeding in the first occurrence. However, since the tears were not painful, she did not go to the doctor or take any medicines.
